How It Works
1. We mail your boxes (mid-April)
Book your package and we ship your boxes to the address you give us in mid-April. Pack at your own pace before finals. We set your exact box-shipping date when you reserve.
2. We pick up at finals (early May)
Choose a pickup time during finals week. Our Herk’s Moving crew comes to your residence hall or student-neighborhood house and loads everything — you don’t lift a thing beyond your door.
3. We store it at Herk’s Hangar (May–August)
Your belongings are stored at our facility at 28 Volkenand Ave, Dayton, OH 45410 — just minutes from campus.
4. We deliver it back (mid-August)
When you return for fall semester, we deliver your items to your new room or house in mid-August around move-in. Unpack and you’re done.

Why Herk’s Hangar
Veteran-owned, start to finish. Herk’s Hangar is owned by a 100% disabled U.S. veteran, and every Herk’s business is veteran-owned. He’s also a University of Dayton alum, so he knows exactly what move-out week on campus looks like. We run this the way we were trained to: show up on time, do what we said, and take care of other people’s things.
Local — not a national middleman. Many student-storage services are booking platforms that subcontract the actual work. We own the facility and our sister company does the hauling, so the people you book with are the people who show up. Our storage is right here in Dayton at 28 Volkenand Ave.
Herk’s Moving does the heavy lifting. Pickup and delivery are handled by Herk’s Moving, our own background-checked moving crew — not day labor from an app.

What can I store?
Clothing, bedding, books, small furniture, mini-fridges (cleaned, defrosted, and dry), TVs, electronics, bikes, rugs, lamps, and decor. Pack fragile items well and label your boxes.
What can’t I store?
No food or perishables, liquids that can leak, flammables or hazardous materials (propane, gasoline, aerosols, paint, cleaning chemicals, fireworks), firearms or ammunition, illegal items, plants or animals, cash, or irreplaceable valuables.
How secure is the facility?
Our facility at 28 Volkenand Ave has video cameras and a digital entrance door lock.
I’m studying abroad in the fall. Can I store longer?
Yes. The 5×5 12-month UD special is built for this. If you’re on an all-inclusive package, call 937-903-0662 for a quote to extend storage and schedule delivery for when you’re back.
I’m an international student. Does this work for me?
Yes — it’s one of the easiest options when going home for the summer isn’t practical. You can pay online, we ship boxes to the address you give us, and we deliver in August. If you’re away longer, see the 12-month option.
I’m graduating. Can you deliver somewhere other than campus?
Yes. Graduating seniors can have items delivered to a new Dayton-area address — call 937-903-0662 for a quote — or move into a standard unit month-to-month. For delivery outside Dayton, call Herk’s Moving at 937-903-0662 for a quote.
What if I need more than my package includes?
Add extra boxes or large items when you book, or call 937-903-0662 — we’ll quote anything unusual.
When do I get my stuff back?
Fall delivery is in mid-August, scheduled around move-in. We’ll contact you before then to set your new address and time.
Can I change my pickup time?
